Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was born in the year 570 CE in mecca as a member of Quraysh in the clan of Hashim in the Arabian Peninsula part of the modern day in Saudi Arabia. Most of his early life was spent as a merchant. His father’s name was Abdullah bin Al-Muttalib and his mother was Lady Amina bint Wahb. His father died before he was born. Muhammad was looked after by a Bedioun woman called Lady Halimah until he
was 6 years old, when he was returned to his mother. The Prophet was only six years old when he lost his mother too. He was raised by his grandfather ‘Abd al-Muttalib. He lost his grandfather and custodian ‘Abd
al-Muttalib at the age of eight. Abu Talib, his uncle became his guardian after the death of his grandfather who happens to be Abu Talib’s father.
In his early 20s, Muhammad began working for a wealthy merchant woman named Lady Khadijah RTA, a widow who is 15 years older than him. She soon became attracted to this young accomplished man and his trustworthiness which made her proposed marriage to him. He was 25 years old and lady Khadijah RTA was close to 40 years. He accepted and over the years the happy union brought 6 children 2 boys and 4 girls. Not all lived to childhood, but one, Lady Fatima RTA. They lived together for almost a quarter of a century, until the death of Lady Khadija RTA about 8-9 years after the revelation of the Qur’an.
The opinion that Muhammad could be trusted was widely thought as he earned the nickname ‘Al-Amin’, which means the trustworthy one. It is important to note that Muhammad did not get married to any other woman during lady Khadija’s life RTA, despite the fact that polygamy was common practice in that society.
He began to receive revelation at age 40, It was in the cave that became known as “Hira” on the Mountain of “Nur” (light) in 610 CE that Prophet Muhammad SAW received from Allah the first verses of the Qur’an through angel Jubril. The Qur’an continued to be revealed in fragments to Prophet Muhammad over the following twenty-two years. The last words of the Book were revealed to the Prophet shortly before his death in 632 CE.
When the beloved prophet SAW started preaching about islam the first two persons to believe were his wife lady Khadiah RTA and his close friend Abu Bakr who was regarded as his successor after his death. He died at the age of 62 years in the year 632 CE after several days of illness and was buried at Al- Masid an- Nabawi (the mosque of the prophet).
Prophet Muhammad (SallaAllah Alaihi Wa Sallam ), The best of all creations.
